The Story

Red Bay Coffee is an artisan coffee company with the objective  to “bring beautiful coffee to the people” in a way that creates job opportunities within the community, respects diversity and fairness to their employees and entire supply chain. 

 

Red Bay began roasting their coffee in the tiny garden coffee roasting lab know as "coffee dojo" and selling it wholesale to businesses throughout the Bay Area. In 2015, founder, Keba Konte successfully raised over $87,000 in a Kickstarter campaign to build their first retail location so that they could bring their coffee directly to the people of Oakland and provide their workers with a fair wage and an equal share in the profit of the business.  In the summer of 2016, the "Red Bay Coffee Box" was opened at The Hive in Uptown Oakland. The 25' converted shipping container built by UrbanBloc sits in a courtyard at The Hive and is ideally situated for customers to grab a quick cup of coffee on their way to or from work, or to relax is the lovely outdoor seating and read a book or chat with a friend. Red Bay Coffee is also open during First Friday's every month and hosts a variety of other activities and events.

 

Red Bay Coffee celebrated the tremendous success of their first year of business at their Coffee Box on July 22, 2017 with a day of free coffee, music, domino's and hula hoops and is now looking at new opportunities to expand their business and their goal of bringing beautiful coffee to the people.
